Prices per kg, litre or piece (national medians). *Like-for-like change since the base period — the same products in the same stores — which can differ from the change in the median. Points: how much each item adds to or subtracts from the index.

How the index is calculated

Each item's price level is followed like for like: from one day to the next we compare the same products in the same stores, so the index never moves just because a chain skipped a day of reporting. Each item's level is divided by its average in the base period, these relatives are averaged using the basket weights and multiplied by 100. An index of 108.4 therefore means the same basket costs about 8.4% more than in the base period. The prices in the table are national medians, for orientation.

If an item has no price on a given day, its most recent price from the previous seven days is used. Days on which less than 80.0% of the basket (by weight) has prices are not published. The base period is 19 Sept – 25 Sept 2026, the first week with data.

This is not an official inflation index. It is an independent indicator based on this platform's selection of products, weights and methodology. For official consumer price statistics see the National Statistical Institute (NSI). Full methodology
