kakvaecenata (kakvaecenata.com) is an independent information site about food prices in Bulgaria. It is free, sells nothing and requires no registration.

Prices on this site are indicative. They are statistical summaries (mainly the median) of the prices retailers report to the Bulgarian Consumer Protection Commission, not an offer and not a guarantee that a product sells at that price in a particular shop. The shelf price may differ, including because of promotions, availability or errors in the reported data.

The Food Basket Index is an independent indicator calculated with our own methodology. It is not the official consumer price index; official inflation statistics are published by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

The information is not financial, legal or other professional advice.

The data comes from the “Kolko struva” portal of the Consumer Protection Commission (KZP) — kolkostruva.bg/opendata. Retailers must report it under Art. 55b of the Act on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, and KZP publishes it as open data. We reuse it as public sector information, process it (matching products, converting to price per kg/l/piece, computing medians and changes) and credit the source.

kakvaecenata is not affiliated with KZP or any public authority and is not an official channel. The processed figures are ours and are not official KZP statistics. How they are calculated is described in the methodology.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the data accurate and current, but we cannot check prices in shops and do not guarantee completeness, accuracy or uninterrupted access. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage arising from use of the information or from decisions based on it. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence.

If you notice an error — a wrong price, or a product in the wrong group — please tell us and we will check it.

Names of retail chains and retailers (for example Kaufland, Lidl, Billa, Fantastico, Metro) belong to their owners and are used only to identify whose prices are shown, as reported to KZP. kakvaecenata is not affiliated with, paid by or endorsing any retailer.

You may freely quote and use the prices, changes and index from this site, including in media and research, with attribution: “kakvaecenata, based on KZP data (kolkostruva.bg)” and the date of the data. The site’s design, texts and code are protected by copyright and may not be copied wholesale without permission.

Automated retrieval is allowed as long as it does not put excessive load on the site.

This site links to external sites (such as KZP’s). We are not responsible for their content.
